Title IV Institution Codes
You will need the Federal School Code (also known as a Title IV Institution Code) for each college or
university to which you are applying in order to complete the
FAFSA. The Federal School Code is a six-character code that begins with a 0
(zero), G, B, or E. Be careful to use the correct Title IV code on the
FAFSA, because some schools have several codes to designate different
programs or campuses.
You can obtain a school's Federal School Code by calling the school's
financial aid office or by using this search form. You can also use
this form to look up a school's name based on their Federal School Code.
If you can't find your school using this form, try using just the
name, or a substring or acronym of the name, or just the city and
state. Also try using Smart Match; it takes twice as long, but knows
about common spelling errors, abbreviations, and other name
variations.
The
2008-2009 Federal School Code List
is also available in PDF Format (1 mb).
If all else fails, try calling the Federal Student Aid
Information Center hotline at 1-800-4-FED-AID.
